In the Dark of the Moon

Though the stars shine brightly around me,
Their song is a lonely tune,
For the moon turns away and light cannot shine
From the dark side of the moon.
When the night lies deep in the shadows
Of dreams that have lost their bloom,
In my own restless heart and dreamless night,
I walk in the dark of the moon
But my heart holds fast to the dream begun.
In the hope of the glow that I know must come
I wait for the rising sun.
So, until I walk from the shadow
And honor my own sweet tune,
'Till I lift up my eyes and make my way,
I walk in the dark of the moon.
